Carsten Velten is a Bonn-based photographer with a focus on minimalist black and white photography. His work moves between quiet landscapes, reduced urban scenes and graphic compositions, often shaped by atmosphere, structure and a deliberate sense of restraint. Whether along coastlines, in cities or across open landscapes, the focus is rarely on the spectacular, but rather on the mood and stillness of a moment.

His work has been awarded and featured in several international competitions, including Monovisions, Minimalist Photography Awards, Monochrome Photography Awards and the Berlin Photo Awards or Refocus Awards. He received the annual top award at the Fotoforum competition in two consecutive years. Recent recognitions include 2nd Place at the Minimalist Photography Awards 2025 and finalist status at the Berlin Photo Awards 2025.
